Apropos of the report Anger over Sir Salman in Kashmir (June 20), it is ironical that nobody has condemned the fatwa calling for Salman Rushdie’s execution.

Apropos of the report Anger over Sir Salman in Kashmir (June 20), it is ironical that nobody has condemned the fatwa calling for Salman Rushdie’s execution. However, the protests against the Vadodara artist Chandramohan and artist MF Husain were labelled as an assault on the freedom of expression, in spite of the distasteful depictions of Hindu deities. Does Rushdie not have that freedom or is it a case of selective protests?
