This direction was given by ADM (F&R) during a meeting at Vikas Bhawan auditorium with sub-divisional magistrates, block development officers and officials of other important departments to discuss the drought situation and chalk out strategy to tackle it. He said that the defunct hand pumps should be repaired and rebored at the earliest. The water tankers should also be repaired by March 15.

The executive engineer of Jal Nigam informed that out of 36832 hand pumps in the district 1316 needed reboring. The officials informed that in trans-Ganga area there was no crisis of drinking water but in trans-Yamuna area the water table has gone down resulting in drinking water crisis there.

The meeting discussed the threat of drought looming large in the district and decided to convene another meeting after March 15 to review the situation. Among those present in the meeting were ADM (City) Rajapal Singh and CDO Narendra Shanker Misra.
