Public relations officer of DLW, Pradeep Mishra, informed that this higher production assumes greater importance in view of the fact that this year DLW has produced 77 WDG3A 3100 HP freight locomotives, 9 WDM3D and 23 WDM3B 3300 HP mixed service locomotives, 22WDG4 4000 HP freight locomotives, 14 export locomotives and 2 locomotives for non-railway customers (Industrial organisations).
Besides, 7 state-of-the-art 2.4 MW DG sets were also manufactured to meet out the power demand of industrial giants during the power failure.
It is worth mentioning here that DLW manufactured 3 WDG3A, 2 WDM3B, 3 WDG4, 3 WDM3D and 2 export locomotives for Myanmar during the month of March 2006.
“Despite a major resource crunch of manpower due to continuous heavy retirement being faced by Diesel Locomotive Works, it is a matter of great pride for DLW that in comparison of last production it has manufactured 27 more locomotives while the last year production was 121 locomotives,” informed Mishra.
