However, commissioner Dr Lalit Varma is understood to have given a tongue-lashing to the two officers sent to the residence of Kesari Devi by the DM following a complaint by Kesari Devi in this regard.
The DM on his part reportedly clarified that he had not issued any order with regard to the vacation of the house by the sitting chairperson. The two officers had gone to her residence to apprise her of Section 144 enforced and ask her to ensure that no one else besides the family members remained in the house.
Later, BSP candidate Kesari Devi reportedly met the observer and complained about mishandling of things by the bureaucracy.
Meanwhile, Kesari Devi’s camp was confident about victory in the election.
A BSP worker wishing anonymity, said most of the members out of the total strength of 75 were in their camp.
Alleging that the ruling Samajwadi Party was ebing helped by the administration and the police, he said BSP candidate would win If election was fair.
On the other hand, district president of Samajwadi Party Jokhu Lal Yadav refuted the charge and said it was the BSP candidate who had adopted unfair means in this election. He even accused her of misusing her official position as the chairperson of Zila Panchayat.
Meanwhile, polling for the zila panchayat election will start at 10 am and members will be allowed to cast their votes till 3pm. Counting of votes is slated to begin soon after followed by the declaration of the result.
