He assured the residents of the areas that illegal constructions would be demolished and the drainage problems would be solved. He also inspected the ghat meant for washer men and discussed their problems.

Corporator of these areas, Surendra Jaiswal and Rajkumari Devi, briefed the district magistrate about the problems related to drainage. He said that the waste water of around 2000 dwellers of the area falls into lake, but dumping of garbage and levelling of the pond by encroachers and land grabbers have created the trouble.

Owing to overflowing drains and water-logging at different places, the residents of the area are facing a lot of problems.

They also made a complaint to the Municipal Corporation regarding improper drainage system.

District magistrate made inspection of sanitation condition in the lanes of the areas and expressed his displeasure at the chocked drains. He directed Municipal Corporation officials to deploy special team to clean up the area.

The DM also directed SDM (Sadar) to submit a report regarding the illegal construction.

Talking to the district magistrate, SP corporator Rajkumari Devi said that in the coming monsoon, dirty water would enter the houses and people would face hardship.

Earlier, the district magistrate had issued an order, asking the officials to remove encroachments from Sumer Sagar area by the first week of May, but due to apathetic attitude of GDA officials towards this issue, the order could not be implemented.

Later, an anti- encroachment squad accompanied with heavy police force and district officials, led by ADM, had reached the spot to start the demolition work.

But just before the start of demolition, heavy rain started the squad had to return from the site.
