Nearly 500 snake charmers live in this village who earn their livelihood through their traditional profession. Pleased with the warm reception and famous snake dance presented by them, the district magistrate gave a reward of Rs 500 each to three groups. He lauded their role in keeping old traditions alive despite much advancement. The DM found basic facilities lacking there so he announced that he would visit the village soon and review the progress. In the rainy season, trees would be planted in the area, he promised.
Welcoming the DM , village chief Swaroopnath and social worker Rani said that since the past five generations, this was for the first time that a government official had visited their village. Later, several villagers raised their demands before the DM . These included toilets, issue of ration cards to BPL people, old age pension and residential houses . All the villagers would be provided houses under Indira Awas Scheme , announced the DM.
Leave cancelled: In an order issued by District Magistrate Amrit Abhijat here on Saturday, the leave of all the district officials has been cancelled with immediate effect in view of law and order situation in the district.
