Top officials of the Noida and Greater Noida authorities and the district administration on Thursday reviewed security and traffic preparations put in place for the Formula One event to be held from October 26 to 28.
The DND Flyway and Yamuna Expressway (the stretch between Greater Noida and Jewar) will be made toll-free on October 28. Besides, there will be no power cut in the twin cities during the three-day event.
“Jaypee Group, the organiser of the event, gave a presentation on the preparations with regard to security and traffic management. Besides, the authority is repairing and cleaning up all major roads in the city,” said Rajesh Prakash, administrative officer, Noida Authority.
Last year, about 70,000 visitors thronged the FI venue, Buddh International Circuit. “This time, more than one lakh people are expected to attend the event. UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is also likely to visit,” said another authority official.
According to officials, streetlights on the Noida-Greater Noida e-way will remain lit throughout the night for three days.
Besides, a mobile team, comprising police and authority staff, will be deployed at each kilometre on the 22-km stretch, they said. Jaypee Group, the F1 organiser, will pay Rs. 16-18 lakh — the toll collected in a day at DND Flyway — to the operator.
Residents facing power cuts up to six hours a day can look forward to uninterrupted supply during the event. For this, the power department has decided to borrow 200MW from other states.
“The organiser has also assured installation of about nine temporary mobile towers this time,” said Karan Singh Chauhan, DCEO, Noida authority.
