He was addressing the inaugural function of the 15th annual conference of UP Chapter of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists (IAPM) ‘UP-Pathmicon-2006’ at KN Udupa auditorium in BHU here on Saturday.
Prof Singh said at a time when various diseases such as polio, HIV, resistant cases of TB, infant mortality and maternal mortality were increasing across the country, there was need to fix accountability of doctors to change the health scenario. “Each prescription should be audited”, he added. He said that infant mortality rate in India was equal to that of Bangladesh and Nepal whereas China and Sri Lanka were far better than India.
