These were the views of former Central Minister and member of AU Executive Council, Satya Prakash Malaviya, while inaugurating the six-day National Integrated Scampi-Fish Culture and Bee Farming Workshop organised jointly by Parasitology Laboratory, Department of Zoology, Allahabad University (AU) and Jana Jaiv Welfare Society (DBT scheme) from August 21 to 26. Malaviya enumerated the 'earn as you learn' programme and said that working in the of the local areas with available resources will bring prosperity.
Malaviya also released a book for trainees on "Mahajhinga Palan and Rog Nidan" written by director of the workshop Prof Sandeep K Malhotra. Former Chief General Manger NABARD, Dr SC Pathak, delivered the keynote address and explained the economic advantages of prawn culture. Director (Fisheries) Uttaranchal Dr RS Chauhan, Dr GD Khedekar from Marathwada University, Deputy Director (Fisheries) Jhansi Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj, AGM NABARD Dr Ismail, Vice-Chairman Allahabad Dairy, Dr Tahir Hasan, also expressed their views on the occasion.
Later a scientist-farmer interface session was organised on the occasion.
Around 25 farmers from Varanasi, Kolkata, Jaipur and Allahabad districts participated in the session.
Field visit to scampi monoculture experiment village pond site at Pattidheema-Lalapur, field visit to integrated fish culture-village pond site at Sirhir, lecture by Bee Specialist Anirudh Prakash at Khusrobagh garden, lecture by Dr RD Gaur, Live-Demonstration of Honey Bee Extraction, Bee Box training, Scampi Hatchery operation- live demonstration and lecture by AGM NABARD would be the main events of the workshop sponsored by CSIR and Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi, informed Prof Malhotra.
