IN A slight variance with his party’s stand, senior BJP leader Kalyan Singh today said the doors of the saffron party were open for the expelled leader Uma Bharti but ruled out his mediation on the issue.

“She has to take a decision whether she wants to return to the BJP or not,” he told reporters in reply to a question on the party’s stand on the possible return of the fiery leader.

Singh, who belongs to the same backward Lodh caste as does Bharti, said the party’s parliamentary board had expelled Bharti and the same has to consider the issue of her possible return, if she makes up her mind for the return.

Party president Rajnath Singh had recently ruled out her re-entry into BJP. Referring to the party’s political programmes in the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh, ahead of the next year’s assembly elections, the former chief minister

said the party would launch a concerted campaign to apprise the electorate about the development works and law and order situation during the BJP rule and would seek their mandate for the party for its commitment to the economic development and improvement in law and order situation.
