Senior police officials including Senior Superintendent of Police PC Meena visited the spot and a heavy contingent of police force was deployed in the area.

No body was willing to speak about the incident. Police have identified the deceased as Hariom Sonkar (22) and Anil Gupta (36), a hardware businessman and the injured are Guddu Sonkar and Sonu Sonkar.

According to eyewitnesses, in the morning around 8.30 Sonu Sonkar was attacked by a group of people led by Raja Ahirwal, son of Rajendra Ahirwal, Mahesh, Manoj and Gabbar at Pahelwan tea stall. The miscreants exploded some bombs and fired indiscriminately in the densely populated area.

In retaliation, some of Sonu’s friends pelted stones on the miscreants who had to make a retreat.

Sonu sustained head injuries and was admitted to UHM hospital.

After getting Sonu hospitalized, Hariohm Sonkar and his friend Guddu Sonkar were returning to their houses around 1.45 pm when they were badly beaten up by a dozen miscreants led by Raja Ahirwal, Manoj, Mahesh and Gabbar near 90/52 Anwarganj Phoolwali Gali.

A miscreant shot at Hariohm on his head with a country- made pistol. He died on the spot. Miscreants also targeted Guddu but missed him and the bullet hit the neck of local trader Anil Gupta, who was coming towards his shop in the same area. Later, Anil Gupta too succumbed to the injury at a private hospital in Sarvodaya Nagar.

Panic gripped the entire area, shops were closed and people confined themselves to safe places. Even after entry of scores of police officials in the narrow lanes nobody could murder courage to come out on the street.

Police teams were hunting for the absconding miscreants.
