State Industries Minister Babulal Gaur expressed these views at the Continued Medical Education (CME) programme on paediatrics at Gandhi Medical College (GMC) here today. The GMC Paediatrics Department and Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Bhopal branch, jointly organised the CME.

Gaur also felicitated renowned paediatrician Dr N R Bhandari for 50 years of service in the field of medicine. The Minister said doctors should never resort to extreme steps like striking work as that plays havoc with several human lives. He emphasised modern health facilities should be made available to the people in rural areas too.

During the CME, World Health Organization (WHO) advisor Dr Harish laid stress on the importance of reducing the infant mortality rate in the country. Dr K N Agrawal from Noida informed about the health and nutrition aspects of youths. He added it was necessary to create awareness for reducing the maternal and infant mortality rates in the country.

Mayor Sunil Sood, GMC Dean Dr Nirbhay Srivastava, GMC Paediatrics Department HoD Dr Rashmi Dwivedi, IAP Bhopal branch secretary Dr Ashwini Syal and several other doctors and specialists were present.
