Duo kills father for raping sister, torturing mother

The two brothers hatched the plot to kill Rajendra because they believed it was the only way to save the family

Two men have confessed to killing their father because he had allegedly raped their sister and tortured their mother, at east Kuchainala village in Tripura’s Dhalai district on Tuesday. The accused, Bijoykumar and Rajkumar Malakar, surrendered before the Kamalpur police that evening.

Sources said Rajendra Malakar, a daily wage labourer addicted to liquor, had allegedly raped his daughter a year ago. He was also accused of ill-treating his wife, Sabita, and forcing his two sons to discontinue their education.

A preliminary inquiry revealed that Bijoykumar and Rajkumar had hatched the plot to kill Rajendra on Monday because they believed it was the only way to save the family. Accordingly, they beat him to death in front of their mother and sister the next day.
