?E-GOVERNANCE is a must to ensure accountability of concerned officials and discharge the grievances of common people within a short span of time,? said District Collector of Vishakhapattnam Praveen Prakash.
‘E-GOVERNANCE is a must to ensure accountability of concerned officials and discharge the grievances of common people within a short span of time,” said District Collector of Vishakhapattnam Praveen Prakash.

Prakash was delivering his key note address at a discussion on ‘e-governance and Development: Issues and Challenges’ at Malviya Centre for Peace and Research, Social Science Faculty in BHU here on Tuesday.
Prakash, an IIT-K graduate said that e-governance was required to ensure transparency in the entire government system and is accessible to one and all.
“The added advantage of e-governance is that it saves time and money of common man,” he said.
Prakash, who played an important role in e-governance system of Andhra Pradesh said, Andhra became the pioneer in E-governance by initiating the E-Seva Project through which common services like paying water and electricity bills, issuing birth certificates etc. were made easy. He said technology should be used for the cause of common people.
Prakash also called upon the students to join government services as the interest of younger generation was declining in such services day-by-day. He said that on the other hand the government should also visit different campuses and recruit students pro-actively.
Presiding over the discussion, BHU rector Prof S Lele said that e-governance required a change of mindset. Dean of Social Science Faculty, Prof PK Bhargava also participated in the discussion and raised the question as to whether e-governance was socially relevant.
Coordinator of Malviya Centre for Peace and Research, Prof Priyanker Upadhyay introduced Praveen Prakash and established the theme of the discussion. Prof Upadhyay said that e-governance was a must to improve the image of government machinery and discharge the grievances of common people at the earliest.
