A team headed by Election Commissioner SY Qureshi arrived here yesterday and held meetings with political parties, DCs, senior civil and police officials.

The team discussed poll arrangements, communication plans, airlift of EVMs to interior areas and security arrangements, election department sources said.

There would be zero tolerance towards violation of the Model Code of Conduct in the elections, the Election Commission said.

The commission warned against use of unparliamentary language by political parties during campaign, saying it amounted to violation of the poll code. Some complaints had been received in this regard which would be looked into, the sources said.

The team told political parties that they could lodge complaints with the EC if there was any misuse of government machinery.

Manipur has two parliamentary constituencies -- Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur.

Election to the Outer Manipur seat comprising hill districts would be held in the first phase on April 16 and to Inner Manipur comprising valley districts in the second phase on April 22.
