We all know that cricket in India is a religion and a passion and much more. There is no better place than Kolkata’s Eden Gardens to experience the greatest magic and excitement.

When there is a game at this venue, the activities in the city are postponed and the work is brought to a halt and other things are considered to be unimportant.

The Eden Gardens is the ancient cricket ground in India and is also considered one of the finest in the world. This ground came into existence in year 1864.The stadium is supposed to be the largest in Asia with a seating capacity of more than a lakh spectators. The calcutta cricket ground, where International test & one day matches are held, is also with in the gardens. Near the gardens you can take a pleasant walk along the bank of hoogly river.

The first Test match was against Douglas Jardine's MCC in year 1934. The Bengali fans witnessed one of the finest innings ever played in the longer-version of game by Vankatsai Laxman in year 2001. His 281 is the highest individual score at this venue beating the previous best of 256 by Rohan Kanhai.

Thanks to the installation of four huge floodlight towers, this venue has hosted many day and night internationals. Formed Indian skipper Mohammad Azharudin one of the best records on this venue.
