Gheit said he would take up the issue with New Delhi.

"In Egypt we have direct investment from India and we are hopeful that no obstacle should be put for companies coming to make direct investment in India," Gheit said after the trade meeting with FICCI.

Asked specifically about Orascom, which is the telecom operator in Pakistan and is seen as a security concern by the intelligence agencies in India, he said, "That is an issue really and truly has to receive the attention of both the governments".
