Eight dead in building collapse

Eight people were feared dead when the under construction building of a private engineering college collapsed on Monday.

Eight people were feared dead when the under construction building of a private engineering college collapsed on Monday.

The incident occured around 6.30pm near NH-2, 10km from Palwal township, when the pillars of the under construction building of Sri Ram Engineering College collapsed crushing over a dozen laborers. Police and civil officers immediately rushed to the spot. The officials confirmed eight deaths.

“Rescue work is on. Two injured labourers have been taken to a local hospital,” Romesh Verma, deputy commissioner, Palwal, said.
