Eleven persons were taken ill and hospitalised after drinking contaminated water in Gondia district, hospital sources said today.

The incident occurred after the villagers drank water from a well and immediately complained of stomach pain and nausea, they said adding they were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where the conditions of two persons is reported to be critical.

A team of medical experts rushed to the spot to collect water samples from the well.

The well is also sealed for use, official sources said adding the situation is now under control.
