Talking to HT, general secretary of the Council Md Sami said about 1,800 temporary workers were retrenched by the mill and the mill authorities assured them that the mill would restart soon and they would be taken back. Sami said innocent employees, reposing faith on mill authorities, did not raise any demand for financial assistance.

Members of the Council have decided to meet the chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) of the British India Corporation on May 25 at Lucknow in support of their demands. Besides, they would also stage a dharna along with their families on May 21.
