EMOTIONS OF BEING
Original Title:Bhavum
India, 2002
Director: Satish Menon

Joy, a journalist, goes through a severe emotional turmoil after his wife’s mysterious sister, Subhadra, arrives on a surprise visit and decides to stay on.
His struggle, seeking to reconcile his desires with the realities in his life, results in the gradual deterioration of his relationship with his wife, Lata. This is played out as a metaphor for a society where individuals are moving away from each other intellectually and emotionally in an environment where society itself has splintered under the effects of globalisation and the influence of the media.
So irreconcilable is this wedge that it precipitates the gradual disintegration of ties, leading to degradation and chaos.
