Three more children succumbed to encephalitis on Thursday pushing the death count this year to 117.

Three more children on Thursday succumbed to encephalitis pushing the death count from the dreaded disease since April this year to 117.

Additional Director (Health) Dr Umakant Prasad said 20 new cases of brain-infecting illness were reported in the district.

He said a total of 693 people afflicted with the disease were admitted to district and medical college hospitals here.
