Encounter kills gangsters and SAP member

A Special Auxiliary Police personnel and six members of dreaded Suresh Rajbhar gang were killed in an encounter between police and the gang at Laxmanpur village under Rajapur police station in Buxar district since last evening, police sources said.

The encounter took place when the District Armed Police (DAP) personnel assisted by SAP members raided Laxmanpur village following information that the members of the gang were planning a major crime, sources said.

As a SAP jawan was killed in the encounter, police cordoned the area and engaged the criminals in exchange of heavy fire, sources said.

Six of the gang members were killed in the encounter, they said, adding five illegal firearms were so far recovered, they said.

It was yet to be established whether Suresh Rajbhar, the gang leader, was among those killed, sources added.
