Engineer found dead in Jammu hotel

A man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room here on Tuesday. Ludhiana resident Daljeet Singh, 35, was found dead in the washroom of a room in Hotel Sant in Jewel area on Tuesday morning, police said.

The victim was working as a junior engineer in Military Engineering Services (MES) at Akhnoor.

"During questioning, the hotel staff said the victim had checked in at the hotel on Monday. On Tuesday, the staff knocked on the door of his room several times, but got suspicious when there was no response. When they forced the door open later, they found Daljeet dead in the washroom. A police team reached the spot, but did not recover any suicide note or other documents from the hotel room," a police spokesman said. Police have started investigation under Section 174 of the Criminal Penal Code.
