English cricket team arrives in India

The team for the two-month tour includes left-arm spinner Monty Panesar, the first Sikh cricketer to play for England.

A 16-member English cricket team led by Michael Vaughan arrived here on Monday on a tour that will see them playing three Tests and seven one-day international matches against India.

The team for the two-month tour includes left-arm spinner Monty Panesar, the first Sikh cricketer to play for England.

The first Test will be played at Nagpur from March 1, and will be followed by matches at Mohali (Mar 9-13) and Mumbai (Mar 18-22).

The visitors will also play a warm-up match against the Mumbai XI at Brabourne Stadium here on February 18-20, followed by another game at Baroda against the board President's XI February 23-25.

The English team will play a practice one-day game at Jaipur on March 25 before the ODI series begins.

The one-day matches will be played at Delhi (March 28), Faridabad (March 31), Goa (April 3), Kochi (April 6), Guwahati (April 9), Jamshedpur (April 12) and Indore (April 15).
