The ET commissioner said a proposal to bring in One-Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) for cable TV operators on the pattern of the one introduced by the Power Corporation and Trade Tax Department would be sent for approval to the State Government shortly. The move comes in the wake of his meeting with the city’s cable TV operators here on Monday, which was also attended by Samajwadi Party traders’ unit leader Banwari Lal Kanchchal.

Swarup said a set of guidelines would be drafted for operators to ensure that they charged a standard subscription fee and provided receipt of the same to the subscribers. He said following yesterday’s meeting, the cable operators had resumed telecast of Star TV channels.

Having heard the problems of the operators, the ET commissioner would now convene a meeting with the viewers’ association to listen to their grievances.

He added that he had asked the cable operators to be polite and considerate in their dealings with viewers.
