Speaking at the Third Convocation function of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Prof Ramaswamy said that it has been proposed that religious approach, prayer and faith in God are useful ways by which we can get quietude and courage to face life and its problems.

"All endeavours should be a spiritual endeavour. In Indian concept, music and dance are divine themes. All actions and relationship are considered to be sacred. While we may not be able to achieve ideals, it is better to have ideals rather than having no ideals at all. Success depends upon trying to lead a worthy life. Therefore, ethical and moral values among the technologists and managers would bring about a better world for the individuals as well as for the society," Prof Ramaswamy said.

Speaking on the occasion, Guest of Honour, Chairman Emeritus NASSCOM Saurabh Srivastava said the world Economy is a system that mirrors the contours of living standard and economic and social heath of diverse economies.

He said that in the congruous manner we can say that world economy is tacit description and lexicon of more than six billions lives breathing on this beautiful planet.

"Having looked at hundreds of business plans and invested in scores of companies, my advise to budding entrepreneurs is that you need to be doing something 'different' or 'differently', 'me too' idea (product or service) coming out a bit later, albeit a bit cheaper, is not a recipe for success. Make sure that your team is complete (marketing, finance, technology etc) and focus on 'execution' - ideas are a dime a dozen.

And finally, if your first venture does not succeed, try again, if not the second time, you will be 'third time lucky' so long as you keep learning from your mistakes," he said.

MNNIT Director Prof Arun Baran Samaddar presented the Institute's Report and informed about the recent initiatives taken up by the Deemed University that includes starting two new BTech and two MTech programmes, establishing a Nano-technology Cell, a Centre for Energy, Environment and Innovation besides a 33/11 KV substation for better power supply.
