Eunuch mayor of Sagar joins BJP

Kamla Bai, an eunuch who had won the Mayoral elections from Sagar as an Independent candidate last year, today, joined the Bhartiya Janata Party.

Kamla Bai, an eunuch who had won the Mayoral elections from Sagar as an Independent candidate last year, on Saturday, joined the Bhartiya Janata Party.

Kamla was given membership of the BJP at a function attended by Madhya Pradesh Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Gopal Bhargava, Sagar's Member of Parliament Bupendra Singh and Party district president Sudha Jain, among others.

"I am influenced by the policy and work culture of the BJP and I have joined the party for all round development of the city," Kamla told reporters after the function.

Bhargava said that the BJP has respected the peoples' mandate with the induction of Kamla in the party, adding that she had won polls with a huge margin.

Kamla had won the mayoral election at Sagar Municipal Corporation last year with a margin of over 43,000 votes.
