TAKING THE lead in valuation of examination papers the Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya (DAVV) began evaluation work from today and evaluation of Higher Secondary and High School copies would follow from March 20 and March 25, respectively.

According to rector Dr Sudhakar Bharti about 400 evaluators have been put on the job. With each one having to evaluate 40 copies per day 16,000 copies would get evaluated per day and the examination result would be declared within 10 days. The University had done such an experiment before during the tenure of AL Sharma as Vice Chancellor when result of M Com final was declared within a week.

The University hopes to declare the results of M Com, MA, M Sc and B Com, BA, B Sc at the earliest. The University teams, flying squads and supervisors maintained a tight vigil on the examination centres amidst heightened security measures.

Following the recent trend set by the University the last paper of B Com final year of Environmental Sciences was changed on the last moment. University officials maintained that it was done to avoid any chance of cheating for which they had prepared four sets of question papers.

The Higher Secondary Board not wishing to be left behind has also embarked upon a programme for early evaluation as listed on the said dates. Though some officials in the Board said that the dates given earlier for evaluation work were even before those decided by the University, Board’s regional officer Anand Jain denied the rumours and said that officially only these dates were given to them and they would try to declare the results at the earliest.

A team led by Jain visited seven schools where examination was being held and found no cases of cheating. The schools visited included Kala Niketan, Rambagh, National Convent, Malhar Ashram, Savitri Kala Mandir, Government Kasturba HSS and Nutan HSS-I & II.
