Expect close one-day series: Bari

The upcoming India-Pakistan one-day matches will be a keen contest, the chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team has said after his side staged an amazing comeback to square the Test series.

"I am not predicting that we will win the series but I am confident that the hosts would be given a run for their money in the one-dayers," Wasim Bari was on Tuesday quoted as saying in a local daily.
"The Indians no doubt have a formidable one-day side but we have enough confidence to challenge them," the chief selector reckoned.
Bari, a former Test player himself, expressed his delight that Pakistan finally had the bench strength to match and back the main team.
"It's very heartening that we have got fierce competition for the various slots in our side, which augurs well for the future as well," he said.
He also attributed the victory in the Bangalore Test to a combined team effort, refusing to single out individuals for praise, while stating that the team had displayed resolve and pluck to even the series 1-1.
"Our team had been branded as a weak side at the start of the series, but the boys learnt their lessons quickly. They fought back so admirably and deserve all the credit for winning the third Test," he said.
"It's not often that a team entering the final Test with a game down comes back so strongly to square the series. Doing it against India in India is truly an outstanding achievement by all means," he added.
