Allahabad University's (AU) Centre for Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences has decided to organise the 'Second International Conference on Cognitive Science' between December 10-12, 2006 to attract the world's best minds working in the field on a single platform and motivate them to put their combined energies to take on the still-little-understood world of human brain.
"The conference would attempt to explore the truly inter-disciplinary nature of cognitive science by organising scientific sessions on all the major domains of cognitive science. It would consist of symposia by invited speakers from India and abroad," informed Dr Narayanan Srinivasan, the convenor of the event.
He said that topics related to cognitive neuroscience, computational neuroscience, cognitive neuropsychology, artificial intelligence, cognitive modelling, human computer interaction and neural networks will be deliberated upon during the meet. "Some other themes that will come for discussions include cognitive development, perception and attention, language processing, learning and memory, creativity, philosophy of mind, culture and cognition besides social cognition as well as emotion and cognition," he added.
Dr Srinivasan said that leading experts of cognitive science from USA, UK, Greece, Belgium, Japan and Canada besides India will participate in the conference.
"We have fixed July 31 as the last date for the submission of extended abstracts of around 500 words from the participants and will provide information regarding the acceptance of their papers by August 31. The abstracts are to be sent by e-mail to cbcs@rediffmail.com. We will be publishing the conference proceedings in a book with selected papers after the conference," he said. As for participating in the conference, interested persons can register through a form that will be available at the conference website, Dr Srinivasan said.
He informed that a workshop and tutorial related to EEG 64 Electrode System, available in just select centres in India, may also be held during the conference for the participants wanting to study brain activities during cognitive tasks.
