Fake stamp paper racket busted in Allahabad; 4 held

Four persons were arrested in Allahabad and fake stamp papers of equivalent value of over Rs one lakh were recovered from them, police said.

Four persons were arrested in Allahabad on Monday and fake stamp papers of equivalent value of over Rs one lakh were recovered from them, police said.

They said Special Operations Group of local police, acting on a tip-off, raided the Minto Park situated along the banks of river Yamuna and arrested the four persons.

The arrested persons were identified as Waseem Ahmed, Mohd Rafeeq, Raees and Ameer - all of them residents of the city's Kareli locality.

Fake stamp papers of equivalent value of Rs 1.10 lakh and equipment meant for manufacturing the same were seized from their possession, police said.

A case has been registered against the four persons under the Indian Stamp Act and Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code, police added.
