It is a city of brisk development and good prospects. The Polish capital is perceived as a truly European city, the pride of the Polish people and a popular destination for foreigners. Many of them stay longer, because they discover new opportunities for themselves.

The new day in Warsaw is welcomed by the conurbation’s 3 million residents, 1.69 million of whom live in Warsaw itself.

Warsaw is the centre of Poland’s political, economic, and cultural life. The city’s location in the centre of Europe makes it an important communication and transport hub on the continent.

Warsaw - a city of historic buildings

The post-war reconstruction of the Old Town, unprecedented on a European scale, gained the appreciation of UNESCO. In 1980, the whole city-centre complex was entered on the World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.

Warsaw’s most beautiful historic buildings lie along the historical Royal Route:

tenement houses, palaces, churches, and monuments as well as the seats of state authorities and schools of higher education.

The exceptionally beautiful interiors of the Royal Castle originate from the times of the last king of Poland, Stanislaw August Poniatowski. This is the most stately place in Warsaw, where the most important local-government and state ceremonies are held.

Wilanów, a historic palace-and-garden complex, was the favourite summer residence of King Jan III Sobieski. The 17th-century palace, surrounded by a beautiful garden, is the venue for important meetings and concerts, and a favourite place where Varsovians like to come for a stroll.
