Eight people have been booked for fraud on the complaint of a farmer, who alleged that the accused had taken Rs 62 lakh from him in lieu of a piece of land he wanted to buy.
According to the information, the complainant, Kulwant Singh, was neck deep in debt and to clear the debt he sold his 7 acre 6 canal land. After clearing the debt, he planned to purchase a piece of land with the rest of the money.
Meanwhile, Baljeet Singh of Kariwala village, Lalit of Kaluana, Tilak of Ganga offered to help Kulwant by assuring to arrange land for him in Jandwala Bishnoian village at reasonable price. They showed the 9 acre 2 canal 4 marla piece of land to Kulwant Singh and his family. Kulwant was told that the land belonged to one Radhey Krishan and he wanted to sell the land as he had no son and feared that his brother could grab the property. A deal was struck for Rs 17 lakh per acre.
Kulwant reportedly paid them Rs 1 lakh as advance and Rs 60.96 lakh the next day.
As per the deal, it had been decided the tubewell would be installed by Kulwant before the registry. When, Kulwant went to install the tubewell, he got the shock of his life finding that the land belonged to someone else. When Kulwant enquired further he found that the seller and dealers were hand-in-glove and worked as a team to defraud him.
Kulwant then approached the police with a complaint.
The police have booked Baljeet Singh alias Sonu of Kariwala, Lalit Kumar of Kaluana, Ramkumar of Kaluana, Tilak Kumar of Ganga village, Jai Singh of Jandwala Bishnoian village, Vinod of Jandwala Bishnoian village and other 2 others under sections 419, 420, 465, 467 and 120 B on the complaint of Kulwant Singh. Kariwala police station incharge Kailash Chand said the accused were on the run.
