Fashion designer Nainika Karan talks to Neha Sharma about her college days at NIFT.india Updated: Oct 07, 2008 14:11 IST
The sister duo of Nainika and Gauri Karan are one of the youngest to enter the — A league of the fashion fraternity. Nainika Karan talks about something different from clothes and design — her days at NIFT I always loved doing creative things and was very interested in clothes, so I joined NIFT to explore if my interest was for real.
And if any institute could have convinced me on that it was NIFT because it is simply the best. My education here taught me that fashion is not just about designing, it is about understanding the entire science of textiles and detailing. We had great teachers to make sure we learnt our basics and learnt more through experience than books.
And of course what is college life without bunking and hogging in the college café! The architecture of the building is really nice and the campus is quite rejuvenating. Very often my sister, our friends and I would walk around the campus and sometimes would drive down the nearby market.
We were really looking forward to the graduating show but that did not happen for some reason so that was sad, but overall I have very fond memories of college and hold it in high esteem. Even now I go back to the library to read up and get some good books whenever I go there.
