If smiling designers at the end of a fashion week are a yardstick of success, then the Lakme Fashion Week succeeded. For the first time, 10 designers have been chosen to present their creations at various prestigious fashion weeks abroad.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Anshu Arora Sen, Savio Jon, Narendra Kumar, Manish Malhotra, Nandita Mahtani, Priyadarshini Rao, Sonam Dubal, Surily Goel and Rocky S -- designers who showed their wares at the recently concluded LFW -- will represent Indian fashion on the runways of Singapore, Australia and the US in the next few months.
The events for which they have been picked (among them: the Olympus Fashion Week in New York and the Singapore Fashion Festival) are owned and represented by the IMG. The selection was made by the IMG's team of global fashion experts along with Lakme and representatives of the LFW advisory board.
"Most of the participating designers presented collections which can go international and IMG is pleased to facilitate the participation of these selected designers in our premium global events," said Fern Mallis, executive director, 7th on Sixth, and vice-president, IMG.
