General Abdelqader Salim, in charge of intelligence in the northern Gaza Strip and deputy commander for the entire Gaza Strip, died in the attack in Jabaliya.
Medical sources said around 70 Palestinians have been wounded in heavy fighting between Fatah and Hamas militants in the northern Gaza Strip, with clashes particularly concentrated around the intelligence headquarters.
Nine Palestinians have been killed across the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, torpedoing a tentative truce between warring factions Fatah and Hamas in an increasingly deadly power struggle.
