FERA case: charges to be framed against Verma

A Delhi Court on Saturday ordered framing of charges against controversial Delhi businessman Abhishek Verma in a case of FERA violation.

A Delhi Court on Saturday ordered framing of charges against controversial Delhi businessman Abhishek Verma in a case of FERA violation registered against him for causing loss of foreign exchange worth Rs 10.5 crore to state exchequer.

Abhishek, son of Veena Verma and poet Srikant Verma, both former Congress MPs, was accused of importing worthless floppies to the tune of 12 lakh dollars making payment against it during 1995-96.

The Enforcement Directorate had registered a case against him in 2002 alleging that later he exported goods worth two million dollars and did not show receiving of the payment from a foreign country.

Additional Chief Mteropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau fixed March 20 for framing charges against Verma.
