The police department had for long been seeking rooms on the station premises from the DMRC to start its operations. The police, which currently function from the MG Road Metro station, enjoy no basic facilities.

According to the police, the police station will now be shifted to the Iffco Chowk Metro station. However, this police station, too, is a temporary one. The police will operate from here till the construction of the Huda City Centre station is complete.

"We will share space with Metro staff at the Iffco Chowk station. The DMRC has given us some space and will provide us with all the basic facilities needed to run a police station," said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP, east.

"We will have three rooms to run the police station. The DMRC will supply power to the rooms for a few days. However, it has asked us to get an electricity meter installed soon," said a senior police official.

The DMRC and police department have been at the loggerheads over the setting up of a police station on the MG Road Metro station.

Earlier, the police station on MG Road station had turned into a dark room as the corporation had disconnected power supply, saying that the facility had been set up without following a proper procedure. The corporation had blamed the city police of forcefully occupying the rooms and even misbehaving with the Metro employees.
