On the request of consumers, the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has decided to push the deadline of converting power tariffs by IT Enabled Services (ITES) units (BPOs and call centres) from commercial to industrial to April 30. Earlier, the deadline was March 31.

A large number of firms from the IT industry were being billed as per the industrial rate at R4.15 per unit, which is less than the commercial rate of Rs 4.6 per unit.

Talking about the new deadline, a DHBVN spokesperson said several ITES companies have got the power connections registered under the industrial rate, whereas Haryana’s industrial policy 2011 stipulates that the commercial rate would be levied upon ITES companies.

Those who don’t adhere to it would be penalised.
