The incident took place near Sadagada village, about 100 km from district headquarters of Baripada, a day after Maoists set ablaze a forest building and killed an official, district collector SK Bashishth told the agency.

The details of the latest incident are not known, he said, adding he was going to the area to assess the situation.

On Wednesday, around 50 Maoists had descended on Sadagada village and surrounded the forest house situated in the middle of the village.

They asked forest official Rabindranath Patra, 55, who was resting inside, to come out. When the official came out they set the building ablaze and killed him, Bashishth said.
