Five killed, nine hurt in road mishaps in Jammu

Five persons have been killed and nine others injured in a spate of road mishaps in different parts of Jammu during last 24 hours.

Five persons were killed and nine others were injured in a spate of road mishaps in different parts of Jammu during the last 24 hours, police said in Jammu on Thursday.

One Parveen Kumar was killed and his wife Kiran Devi was injured when their car skidded off the road and fell into Dudar nallah in Udhampur district on Thursday.

In another incident one Mudasar Ahmed of Anantnag district was seriously injured when his car skidded off the road and rolled down near Digdol on Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Wednesday, the police said adding that he succumbed to injuries while on his way to hospital.

A 16-year-old Irfan Shah of Mastgarh area of Jammu city died on the spot when his scooter was hit by a van near Nagrota about 12 kms from Jammu.

Balwant singh, a truck driver of Phalotha village, was critically injured when his truck rolled down into a nallah at Dharamthal in Udhampur district. He succumbed to his injuries in Udhampur hospital.

Another youth Ropinder Singh was killed when the motorcycle he was driving met an accident near Salathia chowk in Udhampur district.

Eight other persons were injured in separate road accidents and were admitted to various hospitals for treatment, police said.
