In a major relief for pedestrians crossing the busy Hero Honda Chowk on National Highway-8, the authorities on Wednesday initiated the plan to construct a foot over bridge (FoB). On Wednesday, DCP (traffic) Bharti Arora, Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) administrator Praveen Kumar along with other officials inspected the Hero Honda Chowk. “We discussed the plan to construct the FoB and will give it a concrete shape in one-and-a-half-months’ time,” said Bharti Arora, DCP (traffic).

“Thousands of vehicles pass at high speed every hour and pedestrians risk their lives while crossing the dangerous stretch,” said Huda administrator Praveen Kumar. “I’ve asked some consultants to submit a detailed report of the FoB in a week’s time,” he added.

The NHAI, which is the custodian authority of the Express-way, however, denied to have received any communication in this regard. “We have no information in this regard. It will be unfair to comment until we get a proposal from Huda,” said AK Sharma, project director, NHAI.

As many as four FoBs have already been constructed by the PWD on the Expressway — two FoBs between Shankar Chowk and Iffco Chowk, the third one is close to Rajiv Chowk and the fourth one near Narsinghpur village. The fifth one is proposed 200 metres from Hero Honda Chowk towards Kherki Daula.
