SCHOOL EDUCATION Minister Narottam Mishra and Minister of State for School Education Paras Jain have called upon principals to play a major role in improving the quality of school education in the State, especially in schools of rural and semi-urban areas.
The ministers were interacting with 5,000-odd principals of Government schools across the State through teleconferencing from Academy of Administration on Sunday. The ministers also launched the set of 75 CDs on Mathematics course of Class X, prepared by the Directorate of Public Instruction. The ministers said efforts should be made to create an academic atmosphere in the State like Kerala.
They also emphasised better teaching learning of subjects like Mathematics, English, Science and Social Studies. Chairman of MP Board of Secondary Education U K Samal, commissioner of public instruction L S Baghel and director of public instruction Manohar Dubey also talked to principals through teleconferencing.
Speaking on occasion, Samal said students who have attendance of less than 75 per cent would have to appear as private candidates, but they would be allowed to appear for practical exams and annual exams along with students of schools where they are studying.
Samal appreciated efforts of the DPI for coming out with the CD on Mathematics and said the facility of virtual classes would help improvement of exam results. He suggested monthly tests should be conducted at schools. Presently, only quarterly tests are conducted.
CPI L S Baghel gave details on activities being conducted to improve level of education as well as results. Joint director of directorate K K Pande conducted the proceedings. In-charge of the SATCOM centre of the Academy of Administration Pratibha Rajgopal and principals of local schools were present.
