Two nursing homes are located in the vicinity of the colony.

Civil surgeon Dr Vandana Bhatia said she was contacted by a few local journalists about the incident in the evening and the matter was immediately reported to the police.

"Police have sent the foetus to the government hospital mortuary and its detailed examination will be done on Friday," Bhatia said.

Meanwhile, police sources said possibility of more foetuses from the sewer line could not be ruled out as some of the eyewitnesses claimed to have seen more in the drain.

Police said the matter was being investigated.
