Forest guard at Corbett found mauled

Guard Dewani Ram, who had been working at the Corbett Tiger Reserve for the past three decades and had to move about on foot, was probably mauled to death by a tiger on Sunday evening.

His clothes and half-eaten body were recovered on Monday.

“Dewani was killed on Sunday at the Sarpduli range, and the postmortem report will reveal the reasons,” said Corbett Tiger Reserve director RK Mishra on the phone. Ram, who was getting a remuneration of Rs. 100 a day, was well-informed about the movements of tigers and their habitat.
