Former CMO yet to get arrears

Third generation of family members of employees who died decades ago are still waiting for claims from the department. The employees were never paid their pension, PF and Gratuity. Call it official apathy, red tapism or connivance of the ministerial staff, there are several employees who have not been given selection grade and promotional scale. Promotions have not been done in cadre despite promotional avenues. All this has led to great resentment and frustration among the employees. Sources said the office of the additional director health and the CMO both were plagued by similar problems.
‘Even former additional director of the department, Dr Nisar Ahmad, has not been spared. Dr Nisar who retired on the last day of July this year, had also held the chair of the CMO. Disgusted with the prevailing situation, he has written to the AD, to release his salary from October 1, 2005 to July 2006 along with the financial benefits he is entitled to after retirement.
He has sent several reminders to the department for releasing his arrears but there has been no positive response till date. It may be mentioned that the SC in its earlier judgment had already said that pension or dues of an employee or officer is not a bounty but the right of the retiring person and the same should be settled within a prescribed time, which in this case, has already elapsed.
