Former Assam Director General of Police Dipak Narayan Dutta has been appointed as the state's Chief Information Commissioner, official sources said in Guwahati on Saturday.

Dutta succeeds RS Mooshahary who resigned last year prior to his appointment as the Meghalaya Governor.
Dutta would be the state's second Chief Information Commissioner, a post lying vacant since Mooshahary's appointment as Meghalaya Governor.
