Former top US official joins Indian American's tech firm
Former US homeland security secretary Tom Ridge has joined board of directors of a tech firm headed by an NRI.
Former US homeland security secretary Tom Ridge has joined the board of directors of a technology company headed by an Indian American.
Savi Technology Inc., a leading provider of radio frequency identification tag (RFID) solutions for supply chain management and security, announced Ridge's appointment to its board Tuesday.
"Secretary Ridge has demonstrated throughout his career in public service the leadership, knowledge and strategic insights that he will bring to our board," said Vic Verma, Savi's president and CEO.
"We believe his geopolitical perspective and his commitment to fostering joint government and commercial initiatives will be beneficial to Savi as we continue to develop solutions to improve efficiency and security throughout the global supply chain," he said.
"Savi is a leader in the development of RFID solutions in both the government and commercial sectors and I believe there is a real opportunity to improve the management and security of global supply chains using this technology," Ridge was quoted as saying.
Ridge was the first head of the department of Homeland Security that was formed after the Sep 11 terrorist attacks. He was also governor of Pennsylvania between 1994 and his appointment to the Department of Homeland Security in 2001.
With over 15 years in the business, Savi is a leader in RFID solutions for the management and security of supply chain assets, shipments and consignments.
The company tailors its solutions to the defence, commercial supply chain asset management and global supply chain visibility and security markets.
