Four charred to death in Chennai

According to police, Ashok Kumar (35), a security guard at a construction site, his children Sriman (4) and Sukanya (3) were charred to death in the fire that broke out.

Four persons, including three children, died when a fire destroyed their hut at suburban Madipakkam in Chennai on Sunday.

According to police, Ashok Kumar (35), a security guard at a construction site, his children Sriman (4) and Sukanya (3) were charred to death in the fire that broke out early this morning.

Kumar's wife Sivasakthi and another son Immanuel (2) were rushed to a nearby hospital. The child succumbed to his injuries in the hospital and the woman was in a serious condition, police said.

Sparks from a mosquito coil could have lead to the mishap, police said.
